At Blended Pastures Farmstead, we take a hands-on, small-batch approach to crafting skincare and soap. From rendering to finished product, each step is handled with care and intention.
Rendering the Tallow
Our process begins with carefully rendering tallow using a wet-rendering method. This approach helps create a clean base that blends smoothly into skincare products.
After rendering, the tallow is filtered to remove impurities and prepared for formulation.
Small-Batch Formulation
Each product is made in small batches to maintain consistency and quality. Depending on the product type, the tallow may be:
- Whipped for a light, airy texture
- Blended into lotion for easy daily use
- Formulated into balms for targeted care
- Crafted into soaps for gentle cleansing
Product-Specific Preparation
Different products require different handling to achieve the right texture and performance:
- Whipped Tallow: whipped to a soft, airy consistency
- Tallow Lotion: blended for a lighter, spreadable feel
- Tallow Balm: thicker, water-free formulations
- Tallow Soap: cured to create a stable bar with a creamy lather
Storage and Finishing
Finished products are properly cooled, stored, and packaged to maintain quality. Many of our products are water-free, making them naturally shelf stable when stored correctly.
